Valve Tags, Plant Nameplates and Equipment Labels

Anything in a plant room, a workshop or a process line that gets isolated, serviced, inspected or signed off needs a way of being identified that will still be there in ten years.

Engraved Valve Tags and Plant Nameplates Made to Order

We engrave those on our laser at One Tree Point in Northland, in two tone laminate, stainless or anodised aluminium, numbered to suit your own register. There is no minimum order and no setup fee.

Because a laser has no tooling to change between one tag and the next, a run of 400 uniquely numbered tags costs close to what 400 identical ones would. That is the main practical advantage over stamping, and it is why numbering runs are worth doing properly rather than writing on with a marker.

Send us the register in whatever form it exists, whether that is a spreadsheet, a CSV, an export from your maintenance system, a marked-up drawing or a photo of the existing tags. We will follow your numbering convention exactly rather than suggesting a different one.

  • Valve tags numbered with service, direction and normal position
  • Plant and machine nameplates with asset, model, serial and service data
  • Pump, fan and motor identification to match your drawings
  • Pipe and line identification with contents and direction
  • Instrument, gauge and inspection tags
  • Bin, bay, rack and locker numbering in long sequential runs
Valve Tags, Nameplates and Machine Labels We Make

Valve tags numbered with the service, direction and normal position, in round, rectangular or shaped formats and holed for a chain or cable tie. Plant and machine nameplates carrying asset number, model, serial, capacity, service data and inspection intervals on a single plate. Pump, fan and motor identification to match your drawings and maintenance system.

Pipe and line identification with contents, direction and service in your own colour convention. Control panel legends for buttons, switches, indicators and terminals. Instrument and gauge tags in a small sequential format, and inspection and test tags with a white hand-writable space or punched for a date.

We also make bin, bay, rack and locker numbering in long sequential runs which works out very reasonably per unit, barcode and QR tags where the register lives on a phone, and warning and isolation labels in white on red or black on yellow to your wording.

Choosing a Material for Plant and Equipment Labels

Two tone laminate is the standard and the right answer for most plant. The lettering is cut through a coloured surface layer into a different coloured core, so nothing sits on the surface to be worn, bleached or dissolved away. It is usually 1.5 mm and can be drilled, adhesive backed or holed for a tie.

Stainless steel suits engine rooms, food and beverage plant, marine work, high wash-down environments and anywhere plastic is not permitted, and is engraved and infilled. Anodised aluminium is a good middle ground where heat, solvent or abrasion would beat plastic but stainless is more than the job needs. Acrylic works where labels are seen by visitors as well as maintenance staff.

The most useful question is usually not which material you want but what the tag has to survive. Let us know where it is going, what gets used to clean it and how hot it gets, and we will suggest something.

Sequential Numbering for Asset Tags and Valve Tags

Because a laser has no tooling to change between one tag and the next, a run of 400 uniquely numbered tags costs close to what 400 identical ones would. That is the main practical advantage over stamping.

Send us the register, whether that is a spreadsheet, a CSV, an export from your maintenance system, a marked-up drawing or a photo of the existing tags. We lay it out, send a proof showing every tag at actual size, and cut nothing until you have approved it.

We will follow your convention exactly. If your system numbers valves V-101 through V-186 with a service description underneath, that is what gets engraved. We also keep the file, so next year's additions carry on from where the run finished.

Engraved Plant Labels Delivered Across New Zealand

Most engraved industrial identification in New Zealand comes out of Lower Hutt, Christchurch or Australia, or through an online form.

As far as we know we are the only workshop in Northland offering it, which means contractors north of Auckland finally have somewhere local to ring. If you need tags in a hurry, give us a call, and if the schedule you send does not look quite right we will check with you before engraving it.

Everywhere else in New Zealand it goes in a courier bag as usual. We work with engineering and maintenance contractors, facilities and plant managers, process and manufacturing sites, marine engineers and refit yards, electrical contractors, and the contractors working around Marsden Point and the port.

Get a Quote on Valve Tags and Plant Labels

Send us your list, your register export or a photo of the tags you are replacing. Most tag jobs are quoted the same day, there is no minimum order, and you will get a proof showing every tag at actual size before anything is cut. If you order regularly, let us know your standard tag size, material and layout once and after that a job is simply a list and a quantity.

Can you engrave tags from our asset register?

Yes. Send a spreadsheet, a CSV or an export from your maintenance system and we will lay it out and proof it back to you.

Will you follow our own numbering convention?

Exactly as it is. If your system numbers valves V-101 through V-186 with a service description underneath, that is what gets engraved.

What material holds up in a wash-down environment?

Stainless steel, engraved and infilled. Two tone laminate is fine for most plant, but stainless is the answer where plastic is not permitted.

How are valve tags usually fixed?

Most often holed for a chain or cable tie, though we also supply them drilled, adhesive backed or countersunk depending on where they are going.

Is there a minimum order for plant labels?

No, and no setup fee either. Six replacement tags is a perfectly normal job, and so is a run of four hundred.
