Numbered Fire Extinguisher Tags for Your Maintenance Register
We engrave the tags that make that possible, with sequential numbers, site and building references, and barcodes or QR codes where you need them, in materials that will still be readable when the unit is due for replacement.
Because a laser has no tooling to change between one tag and the next, engraving four hundred tags with four hundred different numbers costs almost the same as four hundred identical ones. Send us your register as a spreadsheet, a CSV or an export from your maintenance system and we will lay it out, proof it back and engrave the run.
It is worth saying that no New Zealand regulation specifically requires an asset tag. What drives them is your maintenance register and inspection regime, since the tag is how the register and the physical unit stay connected.
Extinguisher tags numbered with a site and location reference, supplied as a tag, a plate or an adhesive label. Hose reel and hydrant identification numbered with any wording you need, and fire blanket and equipment tags in a smaller sequential format.
Alarm panel and zone plates for panel identification, zone charts and isolate and reset labelling. Fire door tags numbered to the register and discreet enough for a public corridor. Sprinkler valve and isolation tags numbered with the service and direction where that is needed.
We also make riser and booster identification for external weatherproof use, inspection and service tags with space for a hand-written date or punched for year and month, and barcode and QR tags where your register lives on a phone rather than a clipboard.
Two tone laminate is our default, with the lettering cut through a coloured surface into a different coloured core so there is nothing on the surface to rub or bleach away. It can be adhesive backed, drilled or cable-tied.
Anodised aluminium suits tags that sit outdoors permanently, are near heat, or get cleaned aggressively. Stainless steel is the choice for plant rooms, industrial sites, marine work and anywhere plastic would not be accepted.
We would generally steer you away from printed labels and label-maker tape on fire equipment. They lift at the corner, fade in a sunlit corridor and come away with a single wipe, usually about a year after the audit they passed.
This is where a laser is the right machine for the job. Engraving four hundred tags with four hundred different numbers costs almost the same as four hundred identical ones, because there is no tooling to change between them.
Send us your register as a spreadsheet, a CSV or an export from your maintenance system, and we will lay it out, proof it back to you and engrave the run. Include whatever your system needs, whether that is a site code, building, level, room, equipment type, sequence number, install date, barcode or QR. If your register already has a numbering convention we will follow it exactly.
We keep the file afterwards, so when you add three extinguishers next year the new tags carry on from where the run finished and look identical to the rest.
Most of this work is bought by fire protection companies, facilities managers, property managers and maintenance contractors looking after a number of buildings.
What usually matters is consistency across every site, so a technician who has never been to that building can still read the tag. Being able to reorder easily helps too, so you can send the register and get the tags without a design conversation each time, along with a quick turnaround on a top-up run when equipment is added or replaced. Having one supplier for the tags, the fire action notices, the equipment location signs and the door numbering keeps it all matching.
On the requirement itself, no New Zealand regulation specifically mandates an asset tag. What drives them is your maintenance register and inspection regime, and we would rather explain that than imply otherwise.

Send us your register or a photo of an existing tag and we will come back with a price and a proof. Most tag jobs are quoted the same day, and there is no minimum order, so a run of six replacement tags is perfectly fine.
No New Zealand regulation specifically mandates them. What drives them is your maintenance register and inspection regime, which need a way to identify each individual unit.
Yes, at almost no extra cost. A laser has no tooling to change, so four hundred unique numbers costs close to four hundred identical ones.
Yes. Send a spreadsheet, a CSV or an export and we will lay it out and proof it back to you before engraving.
Yes. We keep the file, so a top-up run carries on from where the last one finished and looks identical.
They tend to lift, fade and wipe off, usually about a year after the audit they passed. Engraved laminate has nothing on the surface to lose.
